DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket for Colts Fans

The Indianapolis Colts played a great season…two years ago. That was the year that they won Super Bowl XLI. If you own DIRECTV and have followed every snap then you know how well the Colts have been playing over the last 4 years. Doing the math, you will find that the Colts didn’t actually play too badly in 2007 either. Their score was up to par with all of the greats of 2007 that underestimated the New York Giants, like New England, Dallas and Green Bay. This year head coach Tony Dungy is returning and you can’t blame management for being patient, as the Colts have been playing consistently for the past few years. Be that as it may however, Tony Dungy has implied that this season may be his last. Peyton Manning is also returning for his 11th season with the team and resumes the role of starting quarterback.

Following the colts is easy with the DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket, the NFL Network and ESPN. Unfortunately the Sunday Ticket package is not available for cable yet or any other satellite provider. Thanks to the recent success of the Colts, most sports networks and print articles tend to give Indianapolis a little more attention.

As far as releases, to no great loss the team released wide receiver Craphonso Thorpe, defensive tackle Anthony McFarland and linebacker Rob Morris. They also saw Rocky Michael Boiman and Dan Klecko go to Philadelphia, Jake Scott travel to Tennessee and Benjamin Jeffrey Utecht leave for Cincinnati. However, with these losses came some great additions. The draft alone brought several interesting prospects to the team, most notably in the first round choice of center Mike Pollak from Arizona State and linebacker Philip Wheeler from Georgia Tech.

Reaction has been generally positive though with a few concerns. Everyone has noticed that the Colts' draft favored the center position—in fact, three centers were selected in Pollak, Steve Justice and Jamey Richard. Wheeler is expected to be a major help in the linebacker position, historically a position that needs a great deal of attention. Some criticism was reserved for the team not filling up the defensive line, though it could be said they are slowly but surely working up to a better foundation.

Who are you rooting for between the Patriots, Colts and Packers? Many insiders say the next season could belong to one of the three teams, and their 2007 scores were impressive. It’s easy to root for the Colts as this team has tasted Super Bowl victory as recently as 2006 and has maintained a consistent level of play. If Tony Dungy is really on his way out then what better way to celebrate than with a victorious season of 18-0?
